Post Surgical:

Following orthopedic surgeries, physical therapists are movement experts that help to speed up the healing process. Whether it is due to a joint replacement or a repair of muscles, ligaments or tendons around a joint, the Center for Spine and Sport Rehab can help, stretch and return the joint to a normal level of function.

 

Back Pain:

Back Pain can range from an ache that will not go away to stabbing pain that has caused leg pain, weakness, numbness or neuropathy. Treatments which have been proven to provide relief include cold laser, trigger point mobilization, specialized electrical stimulation, manual therapy, traction, core strengthening and general exercises.

 

Knee Pain:

Knee pain can be caused by arthritis, injury to the meniscus, torn ligaments, over use and even as a result of a pinched nerve in the back. Our Physical Therapists can help alleviate the pain caused by knee injuries. We handle all insurances to get you back on your feet quickly.

 

Shoulder Pain:

Shoulder pain can be a result of referred neck pain or it can be specifically within the joint because of injury or arthritis. Most common shoulder injuries include the rotator cuff which can create decreased arm movement and can be painful, shoulder impingement which is a mechanical and structural problem which causes the joint not to move properly, and Adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder) which is due to an inflammation of the capsule around the shoulder which limits the movement of the shoulder and can be painful. There are numerous other conditions of the shoulder which might be characterized by pain, decreased strength and/or decreased movement.

 

Neuropathy:

Neuropathy is due to an injury or disease that affects your nerves. Common causes are Diabetes type I or II, chemotherapy, limes disease, back injuries, carpal tunnel. The sue of cold laser, specialized electrical stimulation while in the clinic and at home, exercises and manual therapy have been shown to help relieve pain and improve function from this painful condition.

 

Aquatic Rehabilitation:

Core strengthening, general strengthening and endurance training for patients while in a warm water safe environment.

 

Joint Pain:

General joint pain can be caused by arthritis, injury to the joint or can be referred from another area of the body. A physical therapy evaluation can help to determine the cause of the pain and treatment can reduce the pain and help you resume the activities you have been avoiding.

 

Balance:

Balance deficits can be related to many different causes. Research shows most adults begin to see a decrease in our balance around age 45. Through exercise, our bodies can re-learn the sense of balance it once had. Another common cause of decreased balance is following injury or surgery. Likewise, practice with specific exercises prescribed by your therapist can quickly return your sense of balance and confidence when on your feet.

 

Fractures:

Physical therapists do not directly treat fractures but we can assist the healing of the bone to return the body back to its normal state. Treatment include strengthening weak muscles that have been in a cast for several weeks, stretching tight adjacent muscles and joints that have been restricted and regain balance and mobility that has been lost.

 

Headaches/Migraine:

One common cause of chronic headaches is tightness and muscle spasms in the neck and shoulders. Physical Therapy treatments consisting of trigger point mobilization, cold laser, manual therapy can help to decrease the spasms and loosen the muscle so there is less stress on the base of the skull which causes headaches. Ergonomic assessment is also important to help reduce repetitive stress to your spine. While there are many other causes of headaches, a quick assessment by one of our therapists can determine if physical therapy will help you reach your goals.

 

Jaw Pain (TMJ):

Jaw pain or TMJ can have different causes such as teeth alignment and joint alignment but can be caused by neck tightness and spasms similar to headaches. Therapy to the neck to reduce tightness can help to relieve pain by removing additional stress from the joints of your jaw. Slight lifestyle modifications related to eating, talking and posture can also make a significant difference.

 

Sports Trac:

Sports performance training to improve your performance on the court or field, and reduce the risk for knee, shoulder, ankle, and back injury. We use an easy to follow program which is also used to train NFL, Team USA, and numerous college and elite athletes. Classes are offered by our physical therapists and do not require a script from your Dr. to begin. Call today to begin.
